Foods That Improve My Gut Health

As mentioned, gut health is brain health, but it’s also skin health. In Eastern medicine, many practices show that skin health results from what is happening in certain body areas. For example, each portion of the face represents a different body area. The idea is that the external result can be mended by giving care and attention to the internal space. Making gut health extremely helpful is probably the solution to most physical ailments today. Below are foods that helped me find more balance in my gut health and heal the brain fog that I was experiencing.

1.     Greens

The more green and the more bitter the green is, the better. Admittedly I am not a fan of greens; however, I stopped looking at food as an emotional outlet and learned to find satisfaction in the nutritional components of food. This transition took me a while to be content with because food is an easy tool to manipulate with emotions. It just got to a point where I could no longer tolerate fantasizing about my potential.

Greens also help with digestion and provide the body with nutrients. Incorporating greens and bitter greens will rewire the taste palette, and people will find savoury dishes more satisfying also, fast food becomes overbearing for the taste palette. To truly rewire your taste palette is also rewiring cravings, but that all starts with incorporating more greens.

2.     Fermented Foods

Anything fermented, like coleslaw, kimchi, or kombucha, does a great job of managing the tracts of your intestines. These foods settle the stomach and cleanse the digestive area for optimal use. It boosts beneficial bacteria and probiotics in the gut, resulting in increased digestion, better immunity and weight loss. It’s also essential to get creative with these foods; fermented foods are great additions to salads, pasta, and sauce bases.

3.     Mushroom Blend

Instead of struggling with constipation, I was on the opposite end, where I found I went to the bathroom too often. In my case, it was around six times a day. However, I always assumed it was due to a fast metabolism. Then, I discovered that it is also a result of anxiety and an imbalanced digestion (I am also diagnosed with stress).

After that, I researched natural remedies that helped digestion and came across this mushroom blend. After a few months of using it, I found that my gut is much more balanced, and I am not so easily triggered to go to the bathroom. Additionally, this blend includes five mushrooms that help with brain function and memory. After taking the mix for some time, it does help manage digestion, memory, and emotions.

4.     Health Smoothies

For variety and to avoid boredom with my taste palettes, I found myself changing up the fruit and the smoothie vibe. Although this may seem obvious, this was a game changer for my gut health because it would be infused with many herbal powders, seeds, and sea moss. By investing these smoothies with herbal powders that were specific to my needs (specifically digestion in my case), I found them soothing to my body. The best part about this is the convenience of making it a meal or snack if I am too lazy to cook. Overall, smoothies aren’t just sweet treats, but using ingredients consciously can elevate the health benefits and impact of the smoothie.

Conclusion

These are just a few foods that have significantly changed my gut health, brain fog and skincare. It’s important to remember that skincare has to start from within. Satisfaction felt from eating shouldn’t be from satiating a physical feeling but from understanding that you are eating nutrients. Rewiring your mind this way takes consistency, time, and effort, but the results will manifest physically. Eating healthy isn’t a chore. It’s what your body deserves.
